APU students in good standing only.
For graduate assistanships, you must either be an APU master's student
in Environmental Science or have applied to that program for admittance
before you can be considered for these positions. For other opportunities, you
must be an APU student or faculty member. All positions depend on availability
of funds.
Graduate Assistantship, available as tuition credit for a variable number
of credits. Student will work as laboratory assistants during their first year of
assitance, generally in the aquarium lab. Duties will include lab care, set up for
classes, as well as occaisional teaching. Students continuing an assistantship beyond
the first year will assist with faculty research.
Aquarium or Lab Technician,
Positions are available Fall, Spring and Summer to assist Professors in maintenance of
the aquarium lab, general lab upkeep, and other duties as assigned. Technician duties
include water quality monitoring, aquarium system maintenance and specimen care, and
aquarium and lab cleaning.Qualifications include good academic
standing at APU, and regular workday availability each week (cell phone desirable).
Conscientious work habits, maintenance of meticulous lab records required, ability to
work independently and to take initiative required. Successful completion of MAR210
Aquarium Biology preferred. Inquire with Marine Biology faculty.
